鲁尼两球 带领英格兰击败苏格兰
Scotland was hosting England in a friendly match on Tuesday. The teams played at Celtic Park in Glasgow in the 112th meeting of the nations. Their first encounter was also the world's first official international match at the West of Glasgow Cricket Ground in 1872.
The fixture remained an annual, impassioned highlight of the season until 1989 when it was discontinued.
Since then the two have met only four times, with England winning three of those games. The match on Tuesday looked like another England victory when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain headed the Three Lions ahead around the half hour mark.
Roy Hodgson's men were seeking a sixth straight victory and doubled the tally two minutes into the second half. England captain Wayne Rooney, heading in from inside the box. Rooney had been in superb form recently.
Scotland finally scored with seven minutes remaining. Andrew Robertson has an excellent give and go with substitute Johnny Russell before firing low past the keeper to make it 2-1.
But any chance of a Scotland comeback was ended two minutes later. Adam Lallana sets up Rooney for a close-range effort and England went on to claim the spoils with a 3-1 win over old foes Scotland.
"We showed our intentions from the off, started the game very well. I can't think of many periods in the game really when I was really concerned that we were losing control and I thought that some of the movement, some of the attacking movement in particular was very good, and our defending was sharp and when we did lose the ball we won it back quickly. So you can't ask for much more than that in a game where you're playing a good team and you're playing away from home in a very supportive atmosphere for the home team and yet we still managed to quieten them and give our own fans something to cheer about," England manager Roy Hodgson said.
Meanwhile, Portugal played against Argentina at a packed Old Trafford. The match featured Cristiano Ronaldo matched up against Lionel Messi. Both players fought hard for a goal, looking to lift their own team to victory, but failed in their chances. Raphael Guerreiro scored the only goal in stoppage time as Portugal scraped a 1-0 friendly win over Argentina.
Another contest on Tuesday saw Spain taking on Germany. Spain ran out winners in the semi-finals of 2010 World Cup, the last time they met, but Toni Kroos struck with a fierce long-range shot a minute from time to give Germany a 1-0 victory over the Rojas this time.
Other notable matches on Tuesday saw Brazil beat Austria 2-1. David Luiz and Firmino scored for the five-time world cup winners. In Marseille, France edged Sweden 1-0. Italy beat Albania 1-0 thanks to an own goal from Albanian Salihi. Poland drew 2-2 with Switzerland, while the Republic of Irleand dispatched USA 4-1.
