U.S. President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that the United States and India stand united in ensuring their mutual security, as both nations "have known the anguish of terrorism."  Obama made the remarks in an address at the Town Hall in New Delhi.

" I believe that if we're going to be true global partners then our two nations must do more around the world together. So to ensure national security and peace multi-lateral institutions created in the 20th century have to be updated for the 21st century. And that's why I support a reformed United Nations Security Council that includes India as a permanent member," Obama says.

Obama said that relationship between the two countries can be one of the defining partnerships of the century. Obama also said that the two nations can stand up against human trafficking and modern day slavery. Reiterating U.S. commitment to helping India, the U.S. president said his country wanted to be India's partner to help lift up the people's livelihood. President Obama, who arrived in the Indian capital Sunday for a three-day tour, attended the Republic Day celebrations on Monday.
