The Beijing Ducks were playing their last home game Thursday night, hosting the Liaoning Flying Leopards with the series tied at 2-all.
Liaoning hoping return home for the rest of the series with a 3-2 edge, while Beijing couldn't afford any mistakes in Game Five. The Flying Leopards catch fire from the outset. Guo Ailun helps them take control early.
Li Xiaoxu's buzzer-beating three gives the visitors a two-point edge after one quarter. Lester Hudson, the reigning foreign MVP leads the visitors with a match-high 31 points on the night. Hudson shows his all-round skills by setting up He Tianju for the triple. Liaoning are up by double digits midway through the third quarter.
But Stephon Marbury steps up for the hosts. The former NBA all-star player helps the Ducks keep it close with a team-high 30 points. Marbury plays aggressively, Beijing trim the margin to just two points at the end of the third. Li Gen proves solid in the final quarter as the Ducks start to take charge.
Marbury keeps attacking the basket and gives Beijing a six-point edge after scoring and getting the And-1. His triple midway through the Q helps the Ducks build a nine-point lead. Beijing on the verge of going in front in the series. Li Gen's 24 points ensures Beijing win it 105-93. The Ducks lead 3-2 in the best of seven series before heading for Liaoning for the rest of the Finals.
