印度热浪席卷超1400人死亡

The death toll from the heatwave sweeping across India has climbed to 1,400.
Soaring temperatures have gripped parts of southern and northern India. The hottest place in the country, Allahabad in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, recorded a high of 47.7 degrees Celsius.
The capital Delhi recorded a high of 43.5 degrees Celsius. Most of the deaths have been of construction workers, the elderly or the homeless in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red warning to affected regions, advising people to stay indoors. The heat wave conditions are likely to continue over the coming days.
