Turkish preliminary results from Sunday's parliamentary vote show the governing Justice and Development Party, also known as the AKP, has lost its parliamentary majority for the first time in 13 years.
State-run TRT news reports that with 99 percent of the vote counted, the AKP has 41% of the vote. While it gained the biggest share, it is well below the 50% it got in the last round of polls in 2011.
In another surprise outcome, the pro-Kurdish HDP has crossed the 10% threshold, securing seats in parliament for the first time. Stephanie Freid has more.
