埃及法院决定穆尔西是否死刑

Egypt's top court is expected to deliver a final ruling on the death sentence handed down to former President Mohammed Morsi by a lower court.

To Egypt, final ruling is expected on the death sentence sought by a court for former President Mohamed Morsi. An Egypt court sentenced Morsi to death on May 17th for a mass prison break in 2011, triggering mass condemnations from rights activists and leaders across the world.

The court ruled that the sentencing of Morsi along with more than 100 members of the Muslim Brotherhood will be referred to the grand mufti, the highest religious authority in Egypt, for an opinion before any executions could take place.

Egyptian authorities have banned Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood since his overthrow and arrested thousands of his supporters.
