上海保护土壤的新措施

2015-06-25来源:和谐英语

2015 is World Soil Year, which is sure to be celebrated in Shanghai, the first Chinese city to add the worrying issue of soil pollution prevention to an environmental protection plan.

With the rise of concrete buildings and roads, one part of the Earth that we rarely see is the soil. Like all other forms of nature, soil also suffers from pollution which is less visible than water and air pollution but with an even greater cost.

The construction director of the site told us they've been working on the site for three months, and most of the remediated soil has been examined by the government. He was unwilling to provide any more information.

According to official figures, there are around 13,000 to 15,000 polluted sites across Shanghai. 85-percent of them are involved in heavy metal pollution.

Dr. Luo Qishi said it has been ten years since Shanghai started to take action against soil pollution, through renowned projects such as EXPO and Disneyland.

A new three-year plan, with a 100 billion yuan investment, has been implemented to tackle environmental problems, including soil pollution.

China's standards for soil were made twenty years ago, but it wasn't until January of this year that its draft version was released.

With a growing awareness towards the environment now, once-hidden problems are being exposed, and this is leading to a large public response to find solutions.
