老虎伍兹的世界排名下降到220
In golf, the PGA Tour is in the state of West Virginia for the Greenbrier Classic this week, with Tiger Woods as one of the tournament's headliners. But the 14-time major champion missed the cut three years ago in his only previous appearance at White Sulphur Springs, just as he did at the US Open two weeks ago. So as well as trying to get competitive once again, he may also be trying to avoid consecutive cuts for the first time in his career.
Woods has seen his world ranking plunge to 220th, as he struggles to regain his form after undergoing back surgery last year, and hopes a good showing this week will put him back on the right track. Amazingly, he insists he's not too far off, despite suffering his worst start to a season in two decades as a professional.
"I drove it great today and, as I said, made some nice progress since the Open. I know it's hard to believe that I was that far at the Open but I really wasn't. I had a few little knick-knack injuries going on there that week and was just kind of playing through. And on top of that, playing a golf course that is as interesting as that place was -- If you missed a shot, you could look like an absolute idiot there," Woods said.
NBA legend whiffs on tee twice during warm-up event
That's a feeling former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal could relate to, and even a playful bit of "Shaq-Fu" can't help him during the Greenbrier Pro-Am event, but the future basketball Hall of Famer keeps at it only to whiff again, kind of like his often-atrocious free throw shooting. Perhaps he calls on the power of Kazam to finally make contact, but he surely doesn't have a "blue chip" golf swing.
