Jin Liqun was formally nominated as China's candidate for president of the AIIB on July the 6th. He's a former vice finance minister.
Jin served as the secretary-general of AIIB's multilateral interim secretariat, and shuttled between countries across the globe to persuade them to join.
During his 23 years at the Ministry of Finance, Jin was active in multilateral cooperation on the global stage. He was later posted as vice finance minister for foreign affairs.
In 2003, Jin became the first Chinese to become vice president of the Asian Development Bank.
In 2013, he switched to investment banking and securities as chairman of the China International Capital Corporation Limited.
From governmental departments, to international financial institutes, and sovereign bonds, Jin has experience in almost every key area in the financial sector.
