中美深化双边经济合作
An expert on China-US relations says the two countries have achieved development in all fields during the process to build a new type of great power relations. Da Wei is a director at the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations. He says better and deeper relations will benefit both peoples and have strategic significance.
China and the US are the two largest economies in the world, as well as each other's second biggest trade partners. In 2014, China and the US saw rapid growth of economic cooperation. Bilateral trade volume topped 550 billion US dollars, 6.6 percent up from the year before. Total investment has maintained stable development. By the end of 2014, investment stock exceeded 120 billion US dollars. The economic aggregate of the two countries accounts for one third of the world's total.
The population, for one fourth; and the trade volume, one third around. The two countries are two engines driving world economic growth.
"Economic and trade relations between China and the US are getting closer, with both sides mutual interdependent. The trade volume is large, so far breaking 555 billion US dollars. More Chinese enterprises are going to the US to invest and creating more jobs there. The two countries are now discussing an investment protection treaty. The negotiations are still going on and if passed, it will further deepen bilateral economic and trade relations," Da said.
