国际足联宣布2016年2月26日主席大选
One of the men seeking to replace Blatter as the head of FIFA is Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan. The royal, who lost out to the Swiss in the last election, is promising a more open and transparent organization if elected.
The FIFA presidential candidate was in Istanbul on Wednesday to watch the Jordanian national team record a 2-0 over Malta in an international friendly. The Jordanian Prince forced a second round of voting among all FIFA member associations during May's vote but decided to stand down following the opening round of voting. Prince Ali hopes this time will see a different end result.
The 39-year-old says that if elected, he would clean up FIFA following scandal after scandal this year and repair the organisation's reputation.
"First of all, the first thing I would do is to open the windows and unlock the doors. I think it is very important that we are an open governing body, and also that we serve the needs of our national associations. We have to reverse the pyramid where we have to put our players and fans at the top of our priorities, and work from there. We have to be a service organisation. And if we can do that, and we do it correctly, and I believe that I can, then we would be in the right direction to bring FIFA back on track," Ali said.
