The attacks in Paris forced a change of focus at the G20 summit. Leaders that often find difficulty agreeing on global issues - stood united on the issue of terrorism. But as the summit comes to a close, leaders are trying to address the "concern" of extremists blending into refugee groups in Europe.

As it began - the G20 summit ended with an emphasis on global security. A joint statement was issued on the fight against terrorism emphasizing it as a major priority for all the attending countries.

U.S. President Obama expressed strong solidarity among G20 members.

"Here at the G20 our nations have sent an unmistakable message: That we are united against this threat. ISIL is the face of evil." he said.

This came on the same day -ISIL posted a video threatening any country that takes part in air strikes against them in Syria. A strong reminder as to why Europe is facing a migration crisis.

As thousands of Syrians continue to try and reach Europe - with over 800 thousand crossing the border into the EU just this year - the refugee crisis and its effects were also among the top issues discussed during the meetings.

"It demands a global answer. Meaning, we all have responsibilities to give migrants a home, or a temporary home. But it was very clear in yesterday's discussion that we must convert the illegal immigration into a legal one. That is what we aim for at Europe's external borders," said German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Aside from terrorism and the Syrian conflict, which overshadowed the summit agenda, leaders discussed ways to increase global growth, reaffirming their commitment to lifting the group's collective gross domestic product by an additional 2.1% by 2018.

In conclusion of their two-day meeting, the group of 20 named their main goal as implementing growth strategies that include "measures to support demand and structural reforms to lift actual and potential growth, create jobs, promote inclusiveness and reduce inequalities." As China takes over the Presidency, it will have many objectives and challenges to deal with in the upcoming year.
