德国总理默克尔对难民立场转强硬
Chancellor Angela Merkel has won a new two-year term as the leader of Germany's main conservative party.
Merkel won 89-point-5 percent of delegates' votes at a congress of her Christian Democratic Union in the western city of Essen. That represents a solid mandate from her party as she prepares to seek a fourth term as chancellor in next year's German election.
The vote comes after a speech in which she struck a decidedly conservative note, telling members she wants to stem the influx of migrants and restrict the use of face-covering veils, such as the burqa and niqab.
"Not every one of the roughly 890-thousand people who came to us last year can or will stay. But every one of them will be accepted here as an individual human being and not as part of an anonymous crowd. Every single application will be examined."said Angela Merkel.
