妥协对气候谈判至关重要
China has consolidated its position with all parties after the new draft agreement was circulated. With Friday's deadline looming, China has stressed that there can be no alternative to the Paris deal for any country, and compromise is essential.
"The Chinese delegation have been very active and constructive in the whole process of negotiations. We have been coordinating with all the parties, including the United States, the European Union, G77 and other component of G77, because I think the negotiation is a process of making compromises. So that is our hope that all the parties at this late moment of negotiations, and should prepare to make compromises for reaching a final agreement," said Liu Zhenmin, vice foreign minister of China.
Representatives of BASIC countries, namely Brazil, South Africa, India and China, have called on industrialized nations to deliver more ambitious climate finance commitments, and also encouraged all parties to show the flexibility required to reach a strong Paris outcome.
Some western news organizations have quoted anonymous delegates who accuse China of "trying to weaken" the accord. But attendees from other developing countries say they haven't seen China trying to weaken anything.
