国际足联主席候选人呼吁改革

2015-12-28来源:和谐英语

FIFA Presidential candidates Prince Ali and Gianni Infantino are calling for reform, as the game's governing body continues to dig out from its massive corruption scandal. The two contenders promised to make sweeping overhauls, if elected, while speaking at a panel discussion during the 10th annual Dubai International Sports Conference.

Jordan's Prince Ali spoke of his desire to implement change in the organization...should he be chosen as its new president. The royal also called for former investigator Michael Garcia's report into allegations of corruption during bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to be published immediately.

Infantino, who is UEFA's General Secretary, stated that only strong leadership can bring about the reforms necessary to restore credibility at the governing body.

The pair are two of five men seeking to replace FIFA President Sepp Blatter in February's special election. The other three are former FIFA official Jerome Champagne of France; South African businessman Tokyo Sexwale; and the head of the AFC President, Sheikh Sal-man of Bahrain.

Blatter and UEFA boss Michel Platini, the game’s two most powerful men, were banned last week for eight years -- due to ethics violations. Their suspensions have left the world's most popular sport rudder-less in a sea of corruption cases.

The vote is scheduled to take place on February 26th in Zurich, Switzerland.
