中国坚决反对朝鲜的核试

The DPRK's surprise nuclear test on Wednesday has triggered an international chain reaction. China is a neighbor of the DPRK and a key player in the six-party talks to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.  It stands firmly opposed to Pyongyang's actions.

A powerful nuclear test occurred just about 100 kilometers from the China-DPRK border. Here is what surveillance cameras in northeast China's Jilin province captured during the man-made quake. Many people were evacuated from the buildings.

China shares more than 1,300 kilometers of border with DPRK and is a strong advocate for de-nuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. It voiced its firm opposition to the DPRK test on Wednesday.

And this time, the atomic test was a surprise even to China. China strongly urges the DPRK to honor its commitment to denuclearization, and to cease any action that may destabilize the situation.

China's foreign ministry said that to maintain peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, is in the common interest of all parties. China will continue to advocate for a denuclearized Korean peninsula and resolve this issue through the six-party talks.

China's foreign ministry said monitoring for any radioactive fallout is underway along the China-DPRK border.
