美韩将举行联合军演

South Korean’s Defense Ministry says the country will hold a joint exercise with the United States in California this week.

The exercise is to boost their combined deterrence capabilities against the threats from the DPRK’s nuclear program and weapons of mass destruction.

The annual drill will begin Wednesday at Vandenverg Air Force for three days and involve some 40 defense and foreign affairs officials from the two countries. The U.S. said the drill will delve into how to counter in a series of actual combat scenarios.

The officials will also conduct on-site inspections of the U.S. “extended deterrence” military assets. This exercise will be the fifth since 2011.
