We start things off with football from the Chinese Super League and a much-anticipated Shanghai derby with Shenhua taking on SIPG. But the results would be overshadowed by a nasty scene, and before we get into the highlights, I have to warn you that the video is quite gruesome as Shenhua striker Demba Ba suffers a horrific freak injury that results in a severely broken leg, and we can only hope the former Chelsea striker is able to recover and resume his career in the future.

The two sides had met seven times in domestic encounters before this match with both recording two wins, two losses and three draws.

SIPG are going to open the scoring in the 55th minute. Striker Wu Lei fires a powerful shot from outside the box that flies over the keeper into the roof of the net and it's 1-0 SIPG on a fantastic goal.

As Shenhua search for an equalizer, their striker Ba goes down after a seemingly innocuous tangle of legs with SIPG captain Sun Xiang in the 64th minute, but it's immediately apparent that the Senegalese has broken his leg.

The slow motion replay is not for the faint of heart as Ba's shin snaps in two after coming into contact with Sun's shin. Although the challenge might have been a bit clumsy, it's certainly not sinister and it appears Ba's studs get caught in the turf just as he's twisting and somehow the impact with Sun shatters his shin.

Ba would be escorted off the pitch, and immediately to the hospital for surgery. We can only hope the league's top scorer with 14 goals is able to make a full recovery and get back on the pitch in the future.

As the match continues Shenhua scores the equaliser in the 87th minute, when Cao Yunding finds the target from around the penalty spot.

Then in the fifth minute of stoppage time, SIPG's Wang Jiajie is shown a red card for bringing down Giovanni Moreno in the penalty area. Former Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin completes the comeback for the hosts as he finds the back of the net. Shenhua win the derby 2-1, but their thoughts will be with Ba while SIPG's Sun was quick to offer his apologies for the injury.

"Demba Ba and I were fighting for the ball and we both lost our balance. His leg was tripped by my body and he fell down. I didn't pay much attention at that moment because my focus was on the ball, but I could see he was in great pain and severely injured. I wanted to say sorry to him immediately after that but he was crowded by his teammates. I posted my apology on the internet later that night and expressed my remorse. I'm well aware of what an injury means to a football player. He is an outstanding player, and I hope he can recover soon," SIPG Captain Sun Xiang said.
