rob用法要点与易错点

1. 用作动词，表示“抢劫”“剥夺”等，是及物动词，注意其宾语通常只能是人或场所，而不能是被抢的东西；若要表示所抢的东西，用介词 of 引出。如：

这个人抢了她的钱包。

正：The man robbed her of her wallet.

误：The man robbed her wallet.

他们劫富济贫。

正：They robbed the rich to help the poor.

误：They robbed the money from the rich to help the poor.

若说They robbed the boy，指的是“他们抢了这个小孩的东西”，不是“把这个小孩抢走了”，表示后者的意思要用 They kidnapped the boy.（他们绑架了这个小孩）等。

2. 可用于比喻，指“剥夺”某人有权利享用的东西。如：

They’ve robbed me of my happiness. 他们夺走了我的幸福。

They robbed the people of their liberty. 他们剥夺了人民的自由。

3. rob与steal不同：从意思上看，rob指公开地“抢”“夺”（通常使用暴力）；而steal则指在人们不防备或不在场的情况下悄悄地“偷”。从结构上看，两句所使用的句型完全不同：rob+被抢的人或地方+of+被抢的东西 / steal+被偷走的东西+from+某人或某地。
