chance后接不定式和动名词有何区别

chance之后既可接不定式也可接动名词，但有区别：

1. 表示碰巧做某事，其后接不定式。如：

The man chanced to be a doctor. 那男人碰巧是位医生。

She chanced to speak fluent Spanish. 她偏巧很会说西班牙语。

She chanced to be in when he called. 他打电话时碰巧她在家。

I chanced to see your brother in the street. 我碰巧在街上看到你的弟弟。

2. 表示冒险做某事或冒着发生某事的危险，则后接动名词。如：

I stayed hidden; I couldn’t chance coming out. 我还是躲藏，我不能冒险出去。

He chanced climbing the cliff without a safety belt. 他冒险不系安全带去攀爬峭壁。

We’ll have to chance meeting an enemy patrol. 我们不得不冒着可能遇上敌人巡逻兵的危险。
