freefreely的用法区别与辨析

区别一:free 可以用作形容词,但freely 不可用作形容词。free 用作形容词主要用法如下:

1. 自由的,无约束的

You are free to go or stay as you please. 你可以走也可以留下,随你便。

You’re free to choose your major. 你可以自由选择你的专业。

2. (时间或空间)空闲的,未被占用的

Will you be free this afternoon? 你今天下午有空吗?

There will be no rooms free in the hotel until after the holidays. 要在假期过后旅馆中才有空闲的房间。

3. 免费的,无偿的

We enjoy free medical care. 我们享受免费医疗。

Admission to the concert is free. 音乐会是免费入场的。

4. 无…的,摆脱了…的

This district is free from air pollution. 这个地方是没有空气污染的。

The secretary was free from all blame for the errors. 这些失误完全不能怪秘书。

区别二:free 与 freely 都可用作副词,但有区别:

1. free 主要表示“免费地”。如:

The newspaper is distributed free. 本报免费发送。

The sick were allowed to pass free. 病人可以免费通过。

Children can get into the museum free. 儿童可以免费进入博物馆参观。

You can travel free with this special ticket. 你用这张特别的票可以免费旅行。

Buy two CDs and get another completely free. 购买两张激光唱片即可免费获赠一张。

2. 副词 freely 的主要用法有:

(1) 不受限制地,自由地

Now that we are alone, we can speak freely. 现在我们单独在一起,可以随便谈了。

Conversation flowed freely when the speaker invited discussion. 演讲人请大家讨论,于是人人畅所欲言。

(2) 不受干扰地,通畅地,无阻地

Water flowed freely from the pipe. 水从管道里通畅地流了出来。

(3) 主动地,自愿地

I freely admit that what I said at the meeting was wrong. 我主动承认刚才在会上讲的话错了。

(4) 慷慨地,大方地

Millions of people gave freely in response to the famine appeal. 千百万人响应救灾呼吁而慷慨解囊。

(5) 根据大意地,非逐字逐句地

Poems have to be translated quite freely. 诗歌只能根据意思来灵活翻译

(6) 公开地,坦率地

It may require courage to speak freely. 要有勇气才能直言不讳。

(7) 随手可得地

说明:free 用作副词表示“免费地”,在口语中通常可用介词短语 for free 代之。如:

My neighbour cut my hair for free. 我的邻居免费给我理发。

I got this ticket for free from somebody who didn't want it. 我这张票没花钱,是别人不要的。

We might be able to get some plants for free. 我们或许能免费得到一些树苗。

It would be unreasonable to expect them to do all that work for free. 期待他们不计报酬完成所有那些工作简直是不合情理的。

另外,free of charge 也表示“免费”。如:

The company will deliver free of charge. 公司免费送货上门。

We will send you our booklet free of charge. 我们将免费寄送小册子给你。

The car is still under guarantee, so you should be able to get it repaired free of charge. 汽车仍处于质保期内,你可以免费获得维修。
