使用介词 from 的几个易错点■自出事以来，他一直还在住院。

误：He has been in hospital since the accident.

正：He has been in hospital since the accident.

析：from用于时间表示“从”，通常只表示时间的起点，要表示从某个时间持续到另一时间，通常用介词 since。注：在某些特殊情况下，from 也可能表示持续的时间，如：from...on (注意此处有 on)，from...to...(注意此处连用了介词 to)。另外 from childhood 同 since childhood 同义，如：We have been good friends since [from] childhood.(我们从童年时代起就是好朋友)。

■太阳从东方升起，从西方落下。

误：The sun rises from in the east and sets from the west.

正：The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

析：汉语说太阳“从”东方升起，实际上是太阳升起“在”东方，故用介词 in。

■他躲在一棵树上，从那儿他可以看到远处的敌人。

误：He hid himself in a tree, from which he could see the enemy in the distance.

正：He hid himself in a tree, from where he could see the enemy in the distance.

析：关于此问题，首先要明确一点，from 是一个较特殊的介词，它后面不仅可以接名词或代词，而且可以接介词短语，如：He came out from behind the door.(他从门后出来)。上面一句的 from where＝from in the tree，即“从树里”。
