【答】我们知道，介词是英语中非常活跃的一类词，而of则是介词中最活跃的一个，它表示的意思至少在10个以上。它的主要用法是表达“所有关系或所属关系”，其次是跟动词连用表示“有关、关于”，相当于about。限于篇幅，就不能一一列举了。

就网友上面这个句子来看，不知这位朋友是从哪里看到这句话的。我认为，She drinks of the spring. 是一个错误的句子，因为 drink 用作动词无论及物还是不及物，后面跟of毫无意义，看来这个of是多余的。去掉以后，drink the spring 就讲得通，意为“她现在喝泉水。”因为spring既可以指“泉”，也可以指“泉水”：A spring is a place where water comes up through the ground. It is also the water that comes from that place. 　　

还有一个可能，就是漏掉了the water，即应为：She drinks the water of the spring. 　　

此外，以下三个说法都对，请比较这3个介词的差异：　　

the water of the spring （所属关系）　　

the water in the spring （存在关系）　　

the water from the spring （来源关系）　　

【问三】The robber robbed her of her bag. 这里介词of如何理解呢。跟remind sb of sth, accuse sb of sth 等等这些结构的of，这个介词有区别吗？如何理解这个of的用法? （广州网友小林）　　

【答】刚才讲到了of的基本情况。就The robber robbed her of her bag 这个句子而言，of表示“失去，脱离”的含义，它经常跟表示“同类含义的动词”连用。此外，英语的习惯表达也是：动词+ sb. of sth. 例如：　　

This law will deprive us of our most basic rights. 这条法律将剥夺我们最基本的权利。　　

This method will free us of a whole lot of debt. 它会使我们摆脱巨额债务。　　

The soldiers have stripped the civilians of their passports, and every other type of document.士兵们已经夺走了平民的护照以及所有其他类型的证件。　　

The experience cured him of any ambitions to direct again. 那次经历使得他放弃了任何再当导演的想法。　　

The professor hoped to break the students of the habit of looking for easy answers. 教授希望改掉学生们不动脑筋就想找到答案的习惯。　　

The party leader has been relieved of his post. 这个党的领导人被免除了职务。　　

The company engaged in a deliberate effort to cheat them of their pensions. 公司涉嫌蓄意骗取他们的养老金。　　

关于remind sb of sth和 accuse sb of sth，不属于这个类型。这里的of与上述问题不是一回事。
