“形容词+of”的常见搭配

▲be deserving of 应当受到……的,值得……的  

He is deserving of great credit. 他应该得到极大的荣誉。  

Such people will never be deserving of trust. 这样的人永远也信赖不得。  

▲be fond of 喜欢  

He is very fond of Chinese food. 他很喜欢吃中国菜。  

She is fond of reading love stories. 她喜欢看爱情故事。  

【注】英语习惯上可说 be fond of doing,但不说 be fond to do sth。  

▲be full of 充满,装满;……很丰富;老想着  

The lake is full of fish. 这湖里鱼很多。  

The future seems to be full of hope. 前途看来充满希望。  

He was full of the news. 他老想着那消息。  

▲be glad of为……感到高兴,对……很乐意  

We are glad of your success. 我们为你们的成功高兴。  

I am glad of its being over. 这事总算过去了,我很高兴。  

▲be guilty of 犯有……罪(错)  

What crime was he guilty of? 他犯有什么罪?  

You have been guilty of a serious blunder. 你犯了一个大错。  

▲be hopeful of 对……怀有希望的  

I am hopeful of success. 我对成功抱有希望。  

He is hopeful of attaining his object. 他相信会达到目标。  

▲be independent of 与……无关的;不依赖……的  

The two accidents are independent of each other. 这两个意外事件互不相关。  

If you have a motorcycle, you are independent of trams and buses. 假若你有一辆摩托车,你就可以不坐电车和公共汽车了。  

▲be nervous of 对……感到紧张(害怕)  

I was slightly nervous of him. 我对他有点怕。  

I’m nervous of (being in) large crowds. 我在大庭广众之下感到胆怯。  

【注】其中的介词of也可换成about。如:  

I’m very nervous about taking that exam. 参加那个考试我很紧张。  

▲be proud of 以……自豪,因为……而自豪  

He was proud of his school record. 他以学校的成绩自豪。  

They were proud of their success. 他们为自己的成功而骄傲。  

▲be scared of 对……感到害怕;担心  

Are you scared of snakes? 你怕蛇吗?  

Jim was scared of failing the math exam. 吉姆很怕自己的数学考试不及格。  

▲be sensible of 意识到,察觉到,知道  

He is sensible of his faults. 他察觉到自己的过失。  

He was sensible of your kindness. 他知道你的好意。  

▲be short of 缺乏  

We’re a bit short of money at the moment. 我们现在手头有点紧。  

The hospital is getting short of clean linen. 这所医院现在缺少干净的被服用品。  

▲be shy of 害怕;对……有顾忌的  

The dog is shy of strangers. 这狗怕生人。  

I’m shy of buying shares, in case I lose money. 我不敢买股票,怕赔钱。  

▲be sick of 厌倦,讨厌  

I’m sick of waiting around like this. 我腻烦像这样在一旁等着。  

Get out! I’m sick of the sight of you! 滚出去!一见到你我就觉得讨厌!  

▲be sure of 肯定会得到(获得)  

He is sure of success. 他深信自己会成功。  

If you go and see them you can be sure of a warm welcome. 如果你去探望他们,他们一定会热情招待你。  

 

 

 

▲be suspicious of 对……有疑心;怀疑  

He was suspicious of all his neighbors. 他对他所有的邻居都有疑心。  

I am suspicious of his intentions. 我怀疑他的意图。  

▲be thoughtful of 注意,对……想得周到  

You should be more thoughtful of your behavior. 你应该更加注意你的品行。  

【注】其中的介词有时也可换成about。如:  

She is always thoughtful of [about] her mother. 她总是很体贴她的母亲。  

比较下面的it is thoughtful of sb to do sth句式:  

It was thoughtful of you to bring me the flowers. 你想得真周到,还给我带花。  

It is thoughtful of her to write him that letter. 她写了那封信给他考虑实在太周到了。  

▲be tired of 厌烦,对……感到厌烦  

I am tired of boiled eggs. 我吃厌了煮蛋。  

I’m tired of having the same kind of food every day. 我天天吃同样的东西感到腻了。  

▲be true of 符合于,对……适用  

It is true of everybody. 这件事适用于每一个人。  

Parents of young children often become depressed, and this is especially true of single parents. 年幼孩子们的父母经常愁眉苦脸,单身父母尤其如此。  

【注】A is true of B的意思是“A所提到的情况适合于B”,若将其中的介词of换成for,则表示“对……来说”。如:  

This is especially true for old people. 对老年人来说尤其是如此。  

Alcohol should be consumed in moderation, and this is particularly true for pregnant women. 饮酒应有节制,对于孕妇来说,更应如此。  

另外,注意The same is true of...这一固定句式,其意为“也适合于”“……也属同样情况”。如:  

The food is good and the same is true of the service. 吃的东西很好,服务质量也不错。  

The same is true of the way of living of the Japanese. 日本人的生活方式也是这样。  

▲be typical of 是……的典型代表,为……所特有  

The book is typical of its kind. 这本书在同类书籍中有典型性。  

As a historian, he was most typical of the times in which he lived. 作为历史学家,他是他所处时代很有代表性的人物。  

▲be unaware of 不知道,没觉察到  

I was unaware of the fact. 这事实我不知道。  

He was unaware of my presence. 他没注意到我在场。  

▲be unconscious of 不知道,未察觉到  

He was unconscious of his mistake. 他不知道自己的错误。  

She was unconscious of any change. 她未察觉出任何变化。  

▲be weary of 对……厌烦(不感兴趣)  

I’m weary of your preaching. 你的说教令我厌烦。  

The people are growing weary of the war. 人民对这场战争越来越厌倦了。  

▲be worthy of 足以获得;值得……的:配得上(www.hxen.net)  

The scheme is worthy of our support. 那个计划值得我们支持。  

His deed is worthy of praise. 他的行为值得称赞。  

The book is well worthy of his reputation. 这本书完全配得上他的名声。
