抽象名词表示一般概念时，是不可数名词，但当它表示具有某种性质的人或表示某种情况或概念时，则为可数名词。如beauty表示“美”时，为抽象名词，不可数，但表示“美人”时，则为具体名词，可数；bother表示“麻烦”时，为抽象名词，不可数，而表示“麻烦事”时，则为具体名词，可数。请看例句：
