韩国逮捕两名朝鲜间谍嫌疑人
South Korean police said Thursday they have arrested two men on charges of gathering military intelligence for North Korea.
Police said the men were detained in early May after allegedly collecting information on devices capable of disturbing global positioning system (GPS) signals and other sensitive military equipment.
Officials identified the men as a 74-year-old with the surname Lee and a 56-year-old Korean businessman named Kim who had acquired New Zealand citizenship.
They are accused of meeting with and receiving instructions from a North Korean agent in the Chinese city of Dandong, which lies along the North Korean border.
Police are investigating whether the men passed on to the agent any equipment or intelligence that could have been used in recent cyber attacks against the South.
Earlier this month, Seoul accused Pyongyang of sending GPS-jamming signals that affected hundreds of aircraft and ships in South Korea.
