考研英语：复习基础阶段突破“两大困扰”

基础阶段，为学生夯实基础，主要是积累单词量以及句子分析能力的阶段。但是，在这一阶段的复习过程中，在词汇和句法复习方面时常会碰到一些共同的问题。我们发现学生在基础阶段的复习中，在单词记忆以及句子分析两个方面，主要的问题表现为以下两点。

这是摘自《经济学人》中的一篇文章中的一句话。学生不理解Instead的用法，不理解back在这里是什么意思，也不理解"graduated response"指的是什么。

instead只是一个副词，表示"相反"，与上文形成对比，理解它的意思就可以了。但是，在考研里，它算是一个比较常见的逻辑关联词，就像but一类转折词一样，拼接句子之间的逻辑关系。考研阅读中，熟词生义是一个非常常见的现象。

back，是一个简单词，而在考研中，不考它的常见意思，而是考它的辟义。back可以做动词，表示"支持"，此句就是用了它这个意思。考研阅读在词的考查这一方面，还会考查词的搭配。
