Polish, Ukrainian presidents sign declaration on EURO 2012

WARSAW, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yushchenko signed here Monday a declaration on boosting cooperation in preparation for EURO 2012 Soccer Championship.President Yushchenko, who started a one-day working visit to Poland on Monday morning, thanked his Polish counterpart for support for Ukraine aspirations for membership of the NATO and EU during a recent NATO summit in Bucharest."We are aware of the significance of the issue. We we very grateful for the road we started in Bucharest," Polish news agency PAP quoted President Yushchenko as saying.Director of the Presidential Chancellery Foreign Affairs BureauMariusz Handzlik told PAP the presidents plan to encourage smooth and successful conclusion of EURO 2012 preparations.The Polish president stressed it was necessary to coordinate moves designed to improve road and railway infrastructure in the two countries.Euro 2012 organisation requires broader cooperation of presidents and governments of the two countries, President Kaczynski said.President Yushchenko declared that Ukraine would manage to build stadiums and necessary infrastructure on time.Meanwhile, Representatives of Poland and Ukraine signed in Warsaw on Monday, in the presence of presidents of the two countries, an agreement on a Nowa Sarmatia company that is to prolong the Odessa-Brody pipeline to Gdansk.In December the two presidents signed a declaration supporting the said oil pipeline construction project and on setting up a joint Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian transit area for energy raw materials.
