Team Bayi reaches final of women's volleyball tournament

(BEIJING, April 19) -- After defeating the women's team from Liaoning three sets to one (25-20, 16-25, 25-17, 25-23) on April 18 at Capital Gymnasium, team Bayi has qualified for the final of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Club Volleyball Tournament.

Liaoning faced a lack of key players ahead of the Bayi-Liaoning encounter.

Bayi found its form early and maintained the lead throughout the first set by taking advantage of Liaoning's repeated errors, posting a 25-20 win.

Liaoning improved its attack in the following set, taking an 8-5 lead early on. Although Bayi tried to catch up, the team could not defend itself against Liaoning's sharp attacks.

In the third set, Bayi did not give any opportunities to Liaoning. The former used well-practiced tactics to pressure Liaoning throughout the third set.

In the last set, Liaoning's multiple errors put an end to the team's hope of advancing to the final. Things were looking up for Liaoning when the two teams tied 22-22, but Bayi eventually managed to edge ahead to claim the match.
