Republic of Korea aims to add elusive Individual medal to team gold swag

2008-08-08来源:
(BEIJING, August 7) -- The Republic of Korea Men may have taken three Team gold medals in the past five Olympic Games, but not one has won gold in the Individual category.

Im Dong-Hyun, Park Kyung-Mo and Lee Chang-Hwan will seek to make history in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games by attempting to bring home the Individual and Team gold medals.

Im took gold in the Individual and Team categories at the 2007 world championships in Leipzig, Germany, and is ranked No. 1 in the world.

"My target is the gold medal. I have a good sense of shooting," said Im in early August.

Park Kyung-Mo won gold at the 2006 Archery World Cup Final in Merida, Mexico. He is the World No. 3.

Lee is new to the ROK team, but shares the dream of winning gold.

"I do mental training every day," said Lee. "I just picture my victory at the Beijing Olympics. I have dreams about winning the Games."

The ROK won Individual silver medals in the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, and the Individual bronze medal in the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.

At the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, as well as the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, all of the ROK Men were eliminated before the final.
