If you recall, we "met" in cyberspace the other day chatting about the challenges of writing essays in English. A recent search on DangDang.com showed that a certain Mr. Gu Yue has put out a book called "Crafting Beautiful English Sentences." The book, published by Shi He Zhi Shi, is sad to have Chinese learners of English as target readers and it addresses a range of topics from choice of words to sentence structures to editing to stylistic considerations. What strikes me the most is that the book deals in great length with the issue of how to break away from the influence of Chinese language structures and thinking patterns, which, as you and I agreed, seem to stand in the way of crafing good English sentences. The book is worth checking out. I just thought you might be interested.
