Unit1 Part5 Apologies 道 歉
Dialogue 1
A: I owe you an apology, Mr. Steven.
B: What do you mean, Lily?
A: I'm terribly sorry about the appointment last Thursday. I hope you'll excuse me.
B: Forget it. I'd have done exactly as you did if I had been in your situation.
A: That's very kind of you to say so.
Dialogue 2
A: I know it might sound lame, but my alarm clock somehow didn't go off this morning.
B: Yes, VIPs always are. So it's quite all right.
And you're a very important person at this meeting.
A: Oh, please don't!
B: I was just kidding. We've been expecting you all this time!
Dialogue 3
A: Sorry to have kept you waiting, Eva. I was answering an overseas call.
B: It's alright. You must be a very busy general manager.
A: Well, I hope you weren't bored while I was on the phone.
B: No. I was reading this new brochure of yours, you see.
I'm very much interested in your new product.
Dialogue 4
A: Mr. Smith, I ask for your forgiveness.
B: For what?
A: I accidentally broke the vase in the living room.
B: Don't worry. I never liked it anyway.
A: I'm sorry. But, if you don't mind, I'm willing to compensate you for it.
B: That's OK. What is done is done.
Dialogue 5
A: Well, you finally got here. It's about time.
I've been waiting in this restaurant a full thirty minutes.
B: Sorry, Jeanne. You know me. I'm always late.
A: Everybody knows, and everybody's getting tired of it.
Even in school you always interrupt the teacher right in the middle of a sentence.
The whole class has to wait while you sit down and put down your books.
It annoys him and everyone else.
B: All I can say is sorry. Maybe I'll reform, but don't count on it.
