Unit 5. Part 4. Music.
Dialogue 1.
W: How did you like it?
M: The classical chapters were fine. But the one composed by Hem was not quite in harmony.W: I thought so, too. He might be a good conductor but not a good composer yet.M: Right.Dialogue 2.W: What do you think of this piece of music?M: The tune sounds nice, but I don’t quite like the tempo.W: Yes, it’s a bit too fast. By the way, do you go for pop music?M: Not really, I have a special liking for old songs.W: You said it. Sometimes old songs can take us back to the sweet memories of the past.Dialogue 3.W: Do you have any taste for pop music?M: I don’t think so, but I like classical music.W: What? Nowadays few young people have a delicate ear for classical music.M: That’s true, and that’s my difference.W: You are always want to be different. How about rock and roll?M: I cannot bear rock music. It’s too loud.W: But it’s so exciting and thrilling. And classical music sounds out of fashion.M: I did not want to jump on the band wagon.Dialogue 4.W: How about the concert?M: It’s the most wonderful one I ever attended.W: What’s the chief attraction?M: There was a piano duet by two Italians, a violin solo by Mr. Johns, the international violin contest winner, a string orchestra by Beijing Orchestra, and some other interesting items.W: I suppose all the compositions are world famous pieces.M: Of course, they are Beethoven’s Moon light sonata, one of Mendelson’s master pieces, and some famous light music.
