1. add 将一物加到另一物上，使其数量、体积、重要性方面有所增大或增加

He added some wood to increase the fire. 
他加了一些木柴，使火旺些。

2. increase 主要指在数量、财富、权力等方面的增加；作不及物动词时，表示“（自行）扩大”、“增长”

The government is alarmed by the dramatic increase in violent crime. 
政府对暴力犯罪案件的急剧增加感到恐慌。

3. plus （介词）指数量上的增加

We paid 1000 dollars for the shop, plus 200 dollars for goodwill.
