CRI听力:A Versatile Show from Canada "Cirkopolis" to Come to China
Local circus fans in Beijing will soon gratify their desire from a visual extravaganza staged by a world leader in contemporary circus arts from Canada.
The award-winning Canadian troupe "Cirque Eloize" is scheduled to stage their spectacular "Cirkopolis" from the evening of July 27th to the 30th at the Beijing Poly Theatre.
Jeannot Painchaud is the troupe's artistic director.
"It's a crossover type of show. It's a combination of theatre, dance and acrobatics. The music is a big part, and all these are original music. And what we're looking for is this emotion of 'I want to be myself', and 'I'm giving myself the permission to be free'. That's what this show is about."
Cirkopolis is set in a concrete jungle.
Twelve performers mount the stage in armor-like trench coats and hats, and then the show unfolds-defying monotony and pushing the limits of an industrial city.
Created in 2012, Cirkopolis has been presented close to 400 times to date, in 85 cities in 23 countries worldwide. Now the debut of this versatile show in China is seen to highlight the 2015-2016 China Canada Cultural Year.
From June to September, Cirkopolis will tour around 20 cities in China, which Jeannot Painchaud describes as a historic tour.
