A 95-year-old patient from a Sydney nursing home has become the second person in Australia to die from the coronavirus, as the number of confirmed infections jumped overnight. The elderly woman was a resident of an aged care home at Macquarie Park in Sydney's north, where another 82 year old man and an aged care worker in her 50s have also tested positive. Another five cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Sydney overnight, bringing the total number in New South Wales to 22, the Northern Territory has also recorded its first case.
There are fears Australia's highly sensitive diplomatic mail network has been breached, after three private contractors working on it were fired for alleged misconduct. The ABC has learnt international freight company DHL has now referred the matter to Australian federal police. The Foreign Affairs Department says it will continue to work with DHL to ensure appropriate contract oversight and strong internal controls are firmly in place.

And in the US, billionaire Michael Bloomberg has dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential election. The former New York mayor spent more than half a billion dollars on his campaign. But after a dismal performance on Super Tuesday, Mr Bloomberg has now thrown his support behind former vice president Joe Biden, who won nine of the 14 states up for grabs. Mr Biden and Bernie Sanders now lead the race to face Donald Trump in November.
