A school has been shut down and health officials will be going door-to-door in Melbourne's north this morning in an attempt to limit a new COVID-19 cluster. A student at the East Preston Islamic College tested positive yesterday. The school said there was confusion about the case after siblings recovered from the virus, but the boy was supposed to stay in isolation. Other cases have been identified in a social housing block in Broadmeadows with 120 residents told to self isolate.
Meantime, in New South Wales, a health alert has been issued for anyone who attended last week's Bathurst 1000 race. It comes after remnants of the virus were detected in raw sewage in the area. Racegoers and local residents are being urged to get tested if they show any symptoms.
Pope Francis has become the first pope to voice support for same-sex unions. In a new documentary about his life and work, the pope says gay and lesbian couples should be protected by civil union laws. He says homosexual people have the right to be in a family.

There are claims two CIA agents were attacked with a sophisticated microwave weapon while on Australian soil. The symptoms are similar to those suffered by American diplomats serving in Cuba. The federal government has declined to comment.
