The Democrats leave the Iowa caucuses with no clear winner, Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders have split the vote and finished the night a near dead heat.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz won the Iowa caucasus on the Republican side. Donald Trump finished the second followed closely by Senator Marco Rubio.

Officials from a number of countries have gathered in Rome to discuss their efforts to fight the Islamic State group. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says defeating them will likely take years.

And a zoo in Tokyo has held escaped animal drills. Some zoo workers dressed up in animal costumes as other zoo employees practiced catching them.
