Firefighters were working to contain a fire at a Southeast Kansas chemical plant after an explosion injured one employee. The explosion occurred early Tuesday at the Airosol Inc. plant.

President-elect Donald Trump held a meeting at the New York Times offices Tuesday where reporters and editors say he discussed a range of topics from his meeting with Obama to potential business conflicts. The meeting comes a day after Trump's off-the-record discussion with various television networks at Trump Tower.

From Hollywood stars to philanthropists, President Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 21 individuals. Recipients included Ellen DeGeneres, Bill and Melinda Gates and former L.A. Dodgers announcer Vin Scully.

And it's a labor of love. Harvesting cranberries is a time-consuming process often starts months before they end up on the Thanksgiving table, but cranberries bogs in Washington State are producing the nation's fifth largest harvest of the vibrantly red-hued berries.
