President Barack Obama warned his successor Republican Donald Trump to take foreign influence in American election seriously once he takes office. His comments came during his last press conference of the year Friday. The president says he has confronted Russian President Vladimir Putin about hacking, telling him to cut it out, but didn't offer any details about the extent of any U.S. response.

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said the U.N. has failed the people of Syria. Ban described the war in Syria as heartbreaking for him. Ban's term as U.N. chief is officially up on January 1st.

Former Senator and astronaut John Glenn lies in honor inside Ohio's Statehouse rotunda. The public viewing is scheduled to last at least 8 hours Friday, followed by a processional and a public memorial service Saturday at Ohio State University.

And Santa made a special, if not unusual, stop at California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Santa took a dip in the academy's coral reef aquarium in his famous red suit, diving gear and underwater microphone. The reef tank is one of the deepest exhibits of live corals in the world.
