Northern California authorities raised the number of people unaccounted for from that massive wildfire to more than 600. 63 are known dead. And officials say some people may have fled, and not realized that someone is looking for them.
Migrants are gathering in Tijuana, Mexico as the Central American caravan reaches that border city. At least 2,000 are there. US forces were seen upgrading the border fence.
A district attorney was shot and wounded in rural western Alabama. Authorities say officers shot and killed the suspect. He was identified as a former state trooper, who was questioned about a separate shooting years ago.
And the US Senate race in Florida is heading to a legally required hand recount. Republican Governor Rick Scott leads Democratic Senator Bill Nelson by less than 13,000 votes.
