Hurricane Dorian weakened to a category one early Friday off the North Carolina coast. Forecasters say the storm could drop up to 15 inches of rain and cause flash floods in eastern North Carolina.

At least 30 people are known dead in the Bahamas from hurricane Dorian. Small planes are picking up survivors from Abaco Island, where much of the damage occurred.

A wildfire quickly chewed through more than 6 square miles in Northern Carolina Thursday. Some area residents were ordered to evacuate.

And the longtime leader of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, has died at the age of 95. He was the ruler of the southern African nation from 1980 until he was forced to resign back in 2017.
