Pope Francis on Easter Monday prayed for countries hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, while the toll of deaths and infections continued to grow around the world. Francis spoke before giving a blessing to mark what is celebrated in many places as "little Easter."
The Spanish government started rolling back on some virus measures in order to ease the economic burden of the restrictions. Some workers were allowed to return to work for the first time in two weeks. Police and civil protection officers were seen distributing masks at major public transport stations.

Weeks before the coronavirus spread through much of the world, parts of Africa were already threatened by the biggest locust outbreak some countries had seen in 70 years. Now the second wave of the voracious insects, some 20 times the size of the first, is arriving.
And Paul Mccartney's handwritten lyrics to the 1968 Beatles' song "Hey Jude" sold for $910,000 dollars at auction on Friday. The sale was held by Julien's Auctions, which featured 250 items of Beatles memorabilia. The sale took place in an online live streaming setting.
