New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he has enlisted former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg to boost contact tracing in the region, aimed at finding people infected with COVID-19 and then getting them into isolation.
The World Health Organization is defending itself against accusations it acted too slowly to warn the world about COVID-19. Its director says the WHO declared the outbreak to be a global emergency, when there fewer than 100 cases outside China, where it originated, giving the world "enough time to respond."

Despite protests against stay-at-home orders in some states, there is broad support for restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus. An AP-backed poll this week finds more than 60 percent of respondents say restrictions to curb COVID-19 are "about right." 25 percent say the restrictions "don't go far enough. Only 12 percent said restrictions "go too far."
Tensions between the U.S. and Iran are going up again, as Iran's revolutionary guard conducted a space launch that could advance the country's long-range missile program. President Donald Trump threatened to shot down and destroy" any Iranian gunboats that harass U.S. navy ships.
