Georgia governor Brian Kemp is suing Atlanta, to stop the city from enforcing its mask mandate. But mayors of Atlanta, another Georgia city say they will keep enforcing order to wear masks. Despite Kemp's efforts to stop them.
Florida governor Ron Desantis reiterated his plans to open schools next month. He said teachers and adult staff will need extra precautions. But children will not. Florida has confirmed more than 300.000 coronavirus cases.
The United States, Canada, Mexico agreed to keep their shared borders closed to non-essential traffic. At least until late August. The Acting Homeland Security Secretary says the border closure, in place since March, has slowed COVID-19 spread.
A wildfire in Central California has burned at least 26 square miles. More than 900 firefighters with air tankers and helicopters had it 20% contained on Thursday.
