The second night of the Republican National Convention included videos of President Trump granting a pardon and presiding over a naturalization ceremony. The videos are raising criticism that the president's campaign is mixing his official duties with politics.

First Lady Melania Trump addressedthe convention and spoke about the nation's struggles with the coronavirus. She expressed sympathy to those who have lost loved ones and said President Trump is doing all he can to help those impacted by the pandemic.

Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters from around a courthouse. It was the third straight night of protests in that city, after the videotaped police shooting of a Black man.

More than a half a million people have been ordered to evacuate from the Texas and Louisiana coasts ahead of Hurricane Laura. The strom is expected to reach Category 3 strength and make landfall by early Thursday.
