The first shipments of COVID-19 vaccine for widespread use in the U.S. left Michigan Sunday, headed for distribution centers around the country. This is biggest vaccination effort in American history and it's expected to roll out early this week, with health care workers and nursing home residents first in line.
Hundreds of Nigerian students are missing after gunmen attacked a secondary school in the country's northwestern Katsina state Friday night. Nigeria's president said 400 students are missing and the military was in gunfights with alleged bandits as it searched for them.
Hundreds took to the streets in Warsaw to protest Poland's right-wing government Sunday. This is the latest demonstration following a high court ruling that further tightened the country's already restrictive abortion law.
And in Kosovo, dozens gathered for the fifth annual Santa Claus mini-marathon to help raise funds for those affected by the pandemic. Instead of taking to the streets, participants gathered and sold Santa Claus costumes while others ran the race virtually.
