President Donald Trump appeared no closer to signing an end-of-year COVID relief and spending bill Sunday, this as unemployment aid for millions expired overnight. The federal government will run out of money at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday if Trump doesn't sign the bill.

Officials say a Tennessee man named Anthony Quinn Warner is under investigation in connection with the Christmas day bombing that rocked downtown Nashville. Federal and state investigators are working to determine who set off a bomb inside a recreational vehicle Friday, as well as identify human remains found at the scene.

A U.S. army special forces sergeant based in Florida has been charged in an apparently random shooting that killed three and injured three more at an Illinois bowling alley Saturday. The Winnebago County State attorney said 37 year-old Duke Webb was charged with three counts of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder.

And in Russia, New Year celebrations are officially not canceled despite a spike in coronavirus cases. This year most regional authorities will allow festivities to go on for children, although some restrictions will be enforced.
