Two newspapers say NY Governor Andrew Cuomo's top aides changed a state report, to obscure how many people died of COVID-19 in nursing homes. According to NYTimes & WSJ, the aides pushed health officials to list victims who died in nursing homes, not ones who got sick there and died in hospitals.

The Senate began debating President Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill. Republicans argue that it's too expensive.

The US Capitol acting police chief asked Congress to keep the National Guard at the Capitol. There were warnings of new trouble there on Thursday, but no signs of a disturbance.

A Dallas police officer was arrested on two counts of capital murder. A man who is already in custody allegedly told investigators that he kidnapped and killed two people after Bryan Riser told him to do it.
