The senior White House advisor, Mr. Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has said all of his actions have been proper in his contact with Russian representatives during last year's election campaign and presidential transition. Mr. Kushner was giving his first live televised comments in answer to the allegations of Russian meddling. He insisted that no member of the Trump campaign had colluded with Russia.
The UN's Middle East envoy Nikolay Mladenov has warned of the gravity of the disputes surrounding the holy site in Jerusalem that Muslims call the Haram al-Sharif and Jews know as the Temple Mount. He said the tension must be eased in time for next Friday's Muslim prayers, otherwise it could have catastrophic costs across the Islamic world.
Greece has said it's returning to the financial market to borrow money for the first time in 3 years. Since 2010, the government has been dependent on bailout money to meet its borrowing needs.
The authorities in Somalia say they will confiscate the assets of businesses which give money to the militant Islamist group al-Shabab. The jihadists are known to collect taxes in areas under their control and also extort protection money.
A court in Portugal has ordered the extradition to Italy of one of the perpetrators of a bomb attack in 1974 which killed 8 people. The bombing, which also injured 100 people, hit an anti-fascist rally in the center of Brescia. Maurizio Tramonte, who had been sentenced in Italy to life imprisonment, was arrested in Portugal in June.
The Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo has criticized the country's President for vetoing controversial reforms to the judiciary. In a televised address, Mr. Szydlo said the reforms were necessary and that President Kornhauser-Duda had slowed them down.
And a Brazilian woman, who carried out illegal silicon implant procedures, has been killed in a suspected revenge attack after botched surgery. Marcilene Gama had been accused by some clients of using industrial silicon for buttock enlargement. At the time of her death, she faced court action over charges she pretended to be a doctor.
